About This Candela Cryogen Valve

In general, the cryogen valve opens and closes on command. This releases a short burst of cryogen spray just before each laser pulse. As a result, the skin’s surface layer cools quickly. This helps protect the epidermis and improve patient comfort during treatment.

Over time, this valve and its cable can wear down from repeated cycling, electrical wear, or a cracked seal. When that happens, the machine may fail to spray cryogen correctly, cool unevenly, or trigger an error message. In addition, replacing the valve and cable together helps restore consistent, reliable cooling. As a result, the DCD system keeps working as intended.
